Frequently Asked Questions

For individuals and couples each session lasts 50 minutes. 

Payment can be made by bank transfer and is to be paid within 24 hours of our appointment. Should you need to cancel, please provide 24 hours notice where possible, otherwise the session may still be charged.

I offer both short and long term counselling. This is decided by you and your needs and is reviewed at regular intervals. However, I would recommend that a minimum of 6 sessions is taken to begin with to allow for a therapeutic relationship to be established and to allow the space for change to unfold and develop.

I work out of a therapy centre in Henley (The Cherry Tree) and from a self-contained room at my home in Streatley, Berkshire, RG8. The Cherry Tree is in the centre of Henley with plenty of parking options and there is off street parking at my home premises. I also provide counselling over Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

The first session will include exploring in more detail what has brought you to counselling, and how it is impacting your life. Furthermore, it is an opportunity to talk through expectations, clarify the focus and aims. It's a chance for us both to get to know each other and to see if we are a 'good fit' and is also an opportunity to ask questions, and gain a sense of how I work.

I offer daytime and evening appointments. Please enquire for available times. 

Our conversations are confidential unless there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or other, issues of child protection and safeguarding or there is a legal requirement. More information on confidentiality is held in the counsellor/client working agreement which you will receive before starting.  As a registered member of the BACP, I am required to have regular clinical supervision. This is to ensure that I am working ethically, professionally and safely within my competence. However, client identities remain anonymous and supervision is bound by the same confidentiality agreement.
